Dontrelle Willis Gets 1st Win

Last Night Mr. Willis came to pitch for the Tigers. I can't tell you how happy I am for both the Tigers and Dontrelle himself. I feel the best for Dontrelle tho, he came to Detroit being expected to win big and just couldn't find his old swagger. Its seems to be starting to all come back. Last night, Willis in just 6.1 innings pitched he struck out 5 including a (3) strikeout the side inning. Only two base on balls (To me this is the most important stat)

It's great to see a comeback from Dontrelle lets hope he can only build off of this performance. The Tigers are getting healthy and the pitching staff is starting to get stacked up. Willis is now back, Bonderman is close (Rehabing for the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps recently) and Verlander is right on point. Look out for the Tigers Hurlers this season.

Maggs to take personal days

Lets hope everything is fine with Magglio.

According to the Detroit News Detroit Tigers OF will be taking some personal days off. Magglio will play Sunday and is hoping to be back with the club on Thursday but may not make the 1:05 start on Thursday vs the Rangers. Magglio has declined to comment on the situation and thats fine because this is a personal issue. However they did report he won't be heading back home so he will stay in the US for this time of leave.

We'll keep you posted here on this situation

The Tigers will take on the Oakland A's again today @ 1:05. Go Tigers

Detroit Tigers DL Update 5/9/2009

Heres a quick update on the Disabled List Situation for the Tigers.

C. Guillén LF/3B Placed On DL: May 5 (On 15-day DL Right shoulder inflammation)

M. Treanor C: Placed On DL: Apr 24 (60-day Torn labrum, right hip, likely out for season)

M. Thames LF/RF: Placed On DL Apr 19 (15-day Left ribcage strain)

Then you still have Bonderman who is still making strides. Willis is back and ready to go lets hope and overall the Tigers are starting to get healthy. This is just great to see

Granderson Robs Sizemore for the Win

Wow what a game. All I can say is Curtis Granderson. Even the Indians announcer thought it was a Homerun by Sizemore. (Check out the video at the Detroit Tigers Website and listen to the Indians announcer)

I was watching ESPN and It was referred to as the best web gem of the year on baseball tonight

Justin Verlander looked great again on the mound and this is exactly what the Tigers need. Here is what his line last night looked like.

4.50 ERA, 9 I.P., 2 Hits, 2 BB, 11 K's, He gets the win and the complete game shutout. He also threw 118 pitches with 79 of them being for strikes.

Last night was one of the best baseball games I have seen in awhile and is one of the best games of this young season.

The Tigers will get no break tonight they face the Indians again tonight. The probable starters are Edwin Jackson vs. Fausto Carmona. Its should be another great pitching match-up. Carmona hasn't been the same pitcher we have seen the past few years but with his nasty split-finger (Split-town) fastball he is always a tough one to face.

Lets hope for another exciting game and Go Tigers.

Rainy Days Go Away

The Tigers & White Sox Game was Postponed due to rain. There has been no make up schedule yet for this game. Tonight the Tigers will face the White Sox Again tonight at 8:11. Galarraga vs Buehrle

FYI: I have heard a few people on some blogs and baseball podcasts talk about the Chicago White Sox and there crazy game start times. Well there is a reason for it.
The White Sox inked a deal with the quick stop franchise 7 Eleven. Each of the White Sox Homes game will start at 7:11 Chicago Time. Another means to generate revenue, the start of the game time.

Nate Robertson "The Detroit Tigers White Flag"

Nate Robertson is being paid 7,000,000 Big Ones to pitch in Detroit this year. What better way to spend that money? Well here is an idea just go to your local store that carries Flags and purchase a White Flag.

Here's his line last night from the game.

3.0 IP; 3 Hits; 1 ER

It almost seems Nate pitches in every game in which the Tigers are trailing. I guess its better than have him start or come in at a crucial situation but still either way Detroit is paying him 7 Milli.

Anyways lets make it Official Leyland has his own personal white flag in the bullpen.

Its Nate Robertson

D Train Update

Dontrelle Willis made an appearance with the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens On Friday. Here is his line

5 IP; 7 H; 2 BB; 1 HBP; 4 K's; 102 Pitches Thrown; 60 Strikes; 42 Balls

Overall this line isn't terrible but when you paying for him like the Tigers are its gotta still be upsetting. To look on the bright side he is now in Triple A. Players are much more experienced and many have been around the pro levels for sometime. Let's hope the D Train break out and help the Tigers contribute somewhere down the road.

Tigers Loose Its 3rd Straight, At An Even .500 05/02/2009

Well the Tigers fell to the Indians. Its getting pretty hard to watch the Tigers this year when they just can't seem to escape the big inning. The Indians had a 5 run 2nd and from there took control. We saw the big inning last series with the Yankees and now were seeing the same thing against a division rival plus an offense not comparable to the Yanks. The bullpen last night never gave up many runs yet it seems they were always letting men get on base. But really there is no excuses for Detroit when you can't go out and put some runs on Carl Pavano your messing with the baseball gods (ask Justin Verlander). The Tigers as usual always seem to start some kind of rally in the late innings yet fell 1 run short.

Big Ups to Brandon Inge he played a very solid game not to mention his Web Gem Catch he had (#2 on Baseball Tonight's Web Gems)

Tigers Leadoff Central Swing As Indians Come To COPA

Happy Friday Tigers Fans. Well today the Tigers open its AL Central stretch Vs. the Cleveland Indians. We will get to see

Detroit Tigers Vs Cleveland Indians
Carl Pavano-CLE (0-3 , 9.50 ERA) Vs Armando Galarraga-DET (3-0 , 1.85 ERA)
7:05 Est
TV: Fox Sports Detroit

We all know Pavano's past with the Yankees and maybe its better off he stayed on the DL for the Indians. So far his ERA for 2008 is 9.50, while hitters are batting .363. Let's hope the Tigers can continue the onslaught on Pavano this season. So it should an interesting game.

Carlos Guillen may be back in Left Field for tonight's game depending on how he feels before hand.

Let's hope the Tigers can start of well in the Central.

On a side note. When the Tigers started to make a comeback against the Yankees in the 9th on Mariano Rivera that was sure a sight that hasn't been seen often by the Old English D. With Curtis Granderson HR It made him the 2nd Tiger ever to homer off Rivera. Who has the other you say? Well maybe not your 1st choice but its Bobby Higginson (Mr. Tough Guy From Philly). Overall it was only the 24 hit by a Tiger in 167 at bats. For more check out Jason Becks Tigers Blog at MLBlogs

Have a great Friday and Go Tigers!
